Fishing on the Delta

December 25th, 2011 · No Comments

To end our spectacular stay at Tubu Tree, we all went fishing our last afternoon on a pontoon boat. It took some creativity to push the boat into the water, but our guide Moses used the land rover to give the boat a nudge.

Our cruise was accompanied by gin and tonics as well as biltong and boervaas. Fantastic. With the hippos watching we did some evening fishing as the sun was setting. In the near distance a herd of elephants decided to cross the river and we could see their trunks acting like snorkels. One baby hopped on mom’s back because he was just too little to go it alone.

I managed to catch three fish and Jacques one. The scenery was truly spectacular and we toasted to newly made friends Barbara and Ole from Germany and Niki and Jesse from the UK. And of course our trusted guide and tracker Moses, who did indeed part the Delta and lead us to the promised land.
