Winter is finally over!

April 20th, 2009 · No Comments

Well it’s been a long and cold winter and it’s finally over. Not sure that what we have today (its cold, blowing and raining) is much better but at least almost all the snow has melted except for one recalcitrant blob in a dark corner of the garden. I was tempted to take a power washer to it yesterday but thought I would like it die a natural death.

To kick spring off, I have posted 3 new galleries:

What can be a better sign of spring than an easter egg hunt with the family?

Spring means that the birds are migrating which means I can be found lurking around parks taking pictures of lucky birds that come close enough. There are two galleries so far:

The spring hawk watch is in full swing. The broadwing hawk shown in the gallery was the 3rd seen this year. It was such a nice day on Saturday that an eastern coma (butterfly) made an early appearance and was summarily photographed for all to enjoy.

Sunday was extremely windy and I opted to visit a few of the local parks including one of my favourites, Col Sam Smith at the base of Kipling and Lakeshore. It was worth the trip with the red-necked grebes and other waterfowl putting on a great show.

More to come so please stay tuned!
