I think I have entered a time warp. Remember in your 20s when you finished university or college, and right before you started a “real job” you took time off to kick around and travel for a couple of months? It’s happening to me…again.
Some people might consider this a mid life crisis, but I refuse to believe I am that old. So what is causing this?
I finally finished my MBA. That degree is under my belt and I can finally say I am done! No more late nights or weekends spent reading/studying/writing papers. I now have time to have some fun, hang out with friends (those that still remember me) and most importantly, hang out with Jacques.
In order to finish the degree, I decided to resign my position at A&D after 15 years. It was a tough choice, but one that in the long run is the best for me. Instead of buying a sports car like most people do during their crisis, I handed mine in.
So now what?
J and I have decided to take off for a few months. We are going to kick around South East Asia and do some exploring. We will have backpacks, but there is no way I will be sleeping in hostels or train stations again. This is a more gentile tour, taking into account our (more) advanced age than from 20 years ago.
So we plan to leave at the end of June or thereabouts. We are planning to rent our stunning house and find a good home for the kitty cats. Through this blog, we will keep family and friends up to date and let them know where in the world we are.
We will try and upload photos and stuff, and I will attempt to be somewhat entertaining if I can. We often seem to find ourselves in odd situations, and since we are travelling a long time, I want to be sure to remember every story. Feel free to post your comments, or travel suggestions if you have them. We will be checking our emails as we hit internet cafes and I am sure technology guy will keep us connected one way or another.
Till we meet again…
Sharon & Jacques
